Last Race Recap: The Dutch GP

The Dutch Grand Prix posed significant challenges for our tipsters, reflecting the volatile nature of F1 racing:

  • Stephen: Faced a tough weekend, with a 10-point loss that slightly dipped his season total into the negative, now standing at -0.25. Stephen’s meticulous and data-driven approach will be crucial as he looks to recalibrate and make a strong comeback in the upcoming races.

  • Luke: Also experienced a downturn, losing 10 points, but his season remains robust with a total of +22.47 points. His strategic, disciplined approach to betting has helped him maintain a strong position this season, demonstrating his resilience and betting acumen.

  • Ant: Had a smaller loss of 2.88 points, which slightly adjusted his season tally to -2.19. Ant’s bold, sometimes speculative betting style has led to a mix of highs and lows, showcasing the risk-reward nature of aggressive betting.

Stephen’s selections:

Practice 1 – Verstappen vs. Perez – Perez – 6.8 Odds – 2.5 Points
“Head to head odds in practice 1 are normally pretty close so seeing Perez at 6.8 is a good outside bet to possibly start the weekend with profit without having to worry what the rest of the weekend might send your way”

First Driver Retirement – Lance Stroll – Odds 15.0 – 2.5 Points
“Turn 1 at Monza, who doesn’t love watching that on a Sunday! 20 cars trying to get through the first two corners without contact. Can that happen? It could well do but someone like Lance Stroll will be right in the middle of that pack and could well find himself ending his race early due to some contact”

First Driver to Make a Pit Stop – Daniel Ricciardo – Odds 13.0 – 2.5 Points
“Colapinto would be a good selection for this market as well but I’ve gone for Daniel Ricciardo. Just like the first retirement market Ricciardo will be right in the middle of the pack and could find him self needing a new wing after the opening lap.”

Fastest Team Pit Stop – McLaren – Odds 6.4 – 2.5 Points
“Red Bull have had this in the bag a lot this season and the odds increasing to 6.4 for McLaren and Ferrari it is a close call between the two. With it being Ferraris home race weekend a bit more pressure could be on them causing them to be a bit slower”

Luke’s selections:

1st Practice Winner – Charles Leclerc – Odds 10.0 – 2 Points
“With it being the Ferrari home race I believe that Ferrari would want to put on a show for the tifosi, Leclerc is also on great form recently especially off the back of the Dutch GP and would want to also show that Ferrari did the right choice keeping him over Sainz”

First Driver to Make a Pitstop – Veltteri Bottas – Odds 15.0 – 2 Points
“This is my pick out of the hat for this week and wanted someone that could potentially come in as Bottas has a tendency to pit early but haven’t seen it much the last few races so thought this week could be the one.”

First Driver to Retire – Carlos Sainz – Odds 25.0 – 2 Points
“This I hope doesn’t come true but I feel that Sainz sometimes gets unlucky with either reliability or might get into a tangle and given how important this weekend is for Ferrari, I wouldn’t be surprised that something goes wrong.”

Fastest Team Pitstop – Ferrari – Odds 6.40 – 2 Points
“Keeping with the Ferrari theme, I feel like this week they could get the fastest pitstop, they have been fast in general this season and I think they want to put on a show and give themselves the best chance for another podium or potentially a win”

Winner – Charles Leclerc – Odds 11.0 – 2 Points
“This weekend I put most of my eggs in one basket but I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I don’t back my team up, plus I think this is actually possible with Leclerc’s current form and Ferrari might bring some upgrades for this weekend.”

Ant’s selections:

1st Practice Winning Margin – 0.10 – 0.20 – Odds 3.0 –  2.5 Points
“first practice is always unpredictable and all 3 selections seem viable. I like the odds here so am going for this selection. There could also be a random driver sitting at the top of the times too which I wouldn’t rule out.”

Fastest Qualifier – Lando Norris – Odds 2.75 – 2.5 Points
“with the way Norris has been driving lately I’m shocked that the odds are so high for this selection. He showed last week that he has both the one lap pace as well as the race pace. The only reason this price is so attractive is there must be monetary risk on Verstappen.”

Top 10 Finish – Tsunoda – Odds 3.85 – 2.5 Points
“another selection with attractive odds. Yuki and the RB team have been very up and down all season. But the car is very much able to pull off a top 10 finish if Tsunoda is in the mood to race.”

Red Bull Classified Drivers – 1 – Odds 9.6 – 2.5 Points
“this may have to be a bet I ride out until it comes in. There’s something I like about this. Either Perez with another moment to add to his awful season, or Verstappen finally having a stinker and crashing out. The latter feels like it’s impossible to happen so it’s all on Perez I guess”
