Lance Stroll to Skip Singapore Grand Prix After Qualifying Crash, Focuses on Upcoming Suzuka Race
Canadian Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll and his team, Aston Martin, have mutually decided that Stroll will not participate in the Singapore Grand Prix scheduled for this Sunday. The decision comes in the wake of a severe crash during the qualifying rounds.
High-Impact Crash During Qualifying
While attempting to secure a spot in Q2, Stroll experienced a sudden oversteer after his car hit the kerbs at the final turn. This led to a loss of control, causing the Aston Martin vehicle to collide with the barriers. Although Stroll was able to exit the damaged car without assistance and was later declared fit by medical professionals, the incident left both the car and driver in less than optimal condition.

Team’s Statement on Stroll’s Condition
Aston Martin issued a statement on Sunday afternoon, just hours before the Singapore Grand Prix was set to commence. The statement read: “Following Lance’s crash in qualifying during the Singapore Grand Prix, Lance and Aston Martin have jointly agreed that he will not participate in the Singapore Grand Prix this evening. The team face a huge job repairing the car today and understandably Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lance’s focus now shifts to fully recovering ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.”
Prioritizing Health and Future Races
Team Principal Mike Krack emphasized the team’s relief that Stroll was able to walk away from the crash, stating: “The whole team are relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash. Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.”
Looking Ahead to the Japanese Grand Prix
With the Singapore Grand Prix now off the table for Stroll, the focus shifts to his full recovery and preparation for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. Both Stroll and Aston Martin are keen to put this unfortunate incident behind them and look forward to a strong performance in the next race.
